What have we learned?
by Malynda Hale on May 25, 2024
If we are truly paying attention there are similar lessons to be learned from all of the events happening in the world right now.
But the real question is are we actually learning them?
Are we learning to believe people?
Are we learning to show compassion and have empathy? Are we learning to hold space for more than one thing at the same time?
Or are we choosing to be ignorant out of fear that it will change what our initial perspective was?
Are we afraid of being wrong so we choose to not to hear or even see the truth?
Are we so stubborn as a people that we can’t see the opportunity to just simply do better and show up for one another in a way that gives everyone’s pain some form of acknowledgment?
When there is suffering and pain, we have the opportunity to learn compassion. And when we have compassion, we have the ability to have more empathy. And when we have more empathy, the possibilities are limitless. But none of that can happen if we are always looking for a reason to not believe people and discredit them.
Let’s collectively do better, no matter what the situation is.
Liberation comes in many forms and it is, as they say, truly a group project.
